Heading Into the Weekend

...and here's where Kubel stands:

.259/.281/.463

14/54, 3 HR, 2 doubles, 12 RBI, K:BB of 13:2

The K:BB is a little disturbing. After the ASB in 2007, he had a K:BB of 33:23, which helped lead to this OBP of .379.

Hopefully that K:BB will get better over the next month or two, as recent history suggests it should. In fact, I am confident that it will.

Kubel should get the start against Cliff Lee tonight, as Monroe's career stat line against Lee is, well, this:

.148/.226/.333 in 27 AB, 1 HR

Kubel has never faced Lee.

Here's hoping for a good weekend for Kubel and the Twins.

Kubel's day on sat not so good. Thrown out stealing by about 5 feet with Monroe in the box who possibly missed a sign or bare minimum could have swung and missed to give Kube's a chance at the sb. Running hard towards rc missed a ball that hit the palm of his glove - gotta run on your toes Kube's and keep your head still. No worries we blanked the tribe 3-0. Lets go Blackburn I mean Black Velvet who's fastball tails something fierce and earned his first W.

Sunday I had the pleasure of watching at the HHH. Kube's lined a ball that was no lower or higher than 10-15 feet but it was a atom ball (hit right at him in RC). He plays the game stoic, emotionless, not like a kid who loves the game - this is fine, he should play it as he sees fit but it seems a job to him, and my opinion that would not work for myself. He just kinda goes about it like walking to your mailbox to get the mail. Kube's hit the #3 spot as Mauer rested. Morneaux game winning single but #23 won that game for us offensively. Baker did more than his duties on the hill. Reyes hit the dirt more than Redmond's glove. Red down on 3 pitches and half swung once on strike 3 - ishhhhh.

Gardy confused me much with this one. Punto had a 2-0 count and they gave him the take sign - he flashed a bunt early but took it back and the pitch was a called strike. Why would you not let a guy swing on the best hitters count there is (my opinion) - my eyes got big and sat on the edge of my seat in anticipation of Punto putting a hefty swing on this pitch. Next pitch Punto fouled out to the catcher. Turn em loose skip, let him swing from his arse on this count - silliness.
